HUD Audit Senior

Position Overview
The HUD Audit Senior will oversee and conduct audits of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs to ensure compliance with federal regulations and standards. This role will involve evaluating financial records, assessing internal controls, and providing insights into risk management and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct audits of HUD-funded programs and projects.
  • Evaluate compliance with federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Analyze financial statements and data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assess internal controls and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective project management and timely completion of audits.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff on auditing practices and HUD requirements.
  • Support management in risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and regulatory agencies regarding audit processes and results.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of auditing experience, preferably in HUD or government programs.
  • Strong understanding of federal regulations and compliance related to HUD programs.
  • Proven skills in data analysis and financial reporting.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Experience with risk assessment and internal controls evaluation.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to mentor junior staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with tax credit programs and their regulatory environment.
